Florida Keys Specialty Dive Trips

Wreck Diving

Thunderbolt wreck dive in the Florida Keys Dive the Thunderbolt, a 188-foot Florida Keys shipwreck that lies upright and fully intact on the bottom of the Atlantic. Sunk in 1986, the artificial wreck rests in 120-feet of water and is brimming with magnificent fish and other marine life— both small and large!

Due to the depth of the Thunderbolt, Dive Duck Key puts a professional diving guide in the water with you to ensure your safety. Lines are in place to lead you to the wreck and to assist you in strong currents. If you have experience diving 100 feet or more, come experience this exciting Florida Keys wreck dive where you never know what you might discover hiding in the ship’s shadows on the ocean floor.

Night Diving

The Florida Keys coral reef comes alive at night!

Sea creatures that stayed hidden during daylight hours reveal themselves on the flourishing nighttime reef. Depending on the time of the year, Dive Duck Key night dive trips will take you to one or two dive sites.

SNUBA® Diving

SNUBA® Surface Nexus Underwater Breathing Apparatus Dive Duck Key is one of only three authorized SNUBA® (Surface Nexus Underwater Breathing Apparatus) operators in the continental United States, offering a unique diving experience that provides all the thrills of scuba diving, but without having to be certified to dive.

This exciting family-friendly Florida diving adventure lets you and the kids (ages 8 and up) explore ocean depths up to 20 feet while attached to an air line that is connected to a floating SNUBA® oxygen supply tank. The air line allows you to freely explore the reef without having to wear heavy scuba diving equipment.

Before entering the water, a 20-minute SNUBA® orientation will cover underwater communication, general safety, and how to breathe correctly with the regulator. One of our professionally-trained SNUBA® guides will accompany you on your dive to make certain you have a safe and enjoyable Florida Keys SNUBA® experience.

Lobster Hunting

Got bugs? Dive Duck Key provides special Florida Keys lobster season dives (August 6-March 31) for your chance to catch delicious Florida spiny lobster, also referred to as "bugs."

Whether you’re an experienced lobster diver, or have never "tickled" before, we’ll take you to a number of premium lobster diving sites where you’re sure to net your share of tasty tails.

And once back at the dock, our chefs at Hawks Cay Resort will be happy to turn your lobster catch into a memorable fine dining experience.

A lobster license is included with your trip and Florida law allows you to keep six lobsters per person per day. All lobster dives on the Seafari take place outside of the Florida Keys "No Take Zone."

Spearfishing

Bring the thrill of the hunt to your Florida Keys scuba diving adventure! Dive Duck Key offers experienced scuba divers with speargun knowledge the chance to spearfish during their dive trip.

For those new to spearfishing, Dive Duck Key offers a specialty instruction package that includes scuba equipment; speargun; instruction on how to hunt with the speargun; and a master guide to accompany you in the water. The cost is $400 and includes two trips. Hunting class sizes are very limited. Private classes with only one person will be charged an additional fee.
You will receive a certification card from either PADI or NAUI upon completion of the course.

If you don’t have time to complete a hunting course consider hiring a hunting guide. You can be getting dinner in as little as a half day. All Dive Duck Key spearfishing trips include proper fishing licenses and assistance from our guides on local laws relating to species size and bag limits.

*Note: Dive Duck Key does not rent hunting equipment unless you are enrolled in a hunting class or have hired a hunting guide.. Spearguns and lobster equipment are available for purchase at our dive shop.
