Planning Your Trip

Fishing license included with your trip.

Make the most of your trip by following these helpful tips:
  • Bring a Camera. In addition to photographing your catch you may also want to capture images of the wildlife you’re likely to encounter during your trip. It’s not uncommon to spot manatees, porpoises, sea turtles, roseate spoonbills, alligators and bald eagles, to name a few.
  • Wear Polarized Sunglasses. I highly recommend wearing a good pair of polarized fishing sunglasses on your trip. Polarized lenses reduce the sun’s glare and allow you to spot the fish better.
  • Ask Advice. I am always happy to offer instruction. Whether you’re interested in increasing your fly casting distance, or just want to learn the basic techniques of fighting a fish, we’ll work together to hone your skills.
  • Wear Sunscreen. As with most flats skiffs, the Soc-et-tu-em does not offer shade. Be sure to wear plenty of sunscreen to protect your skin. The higher the SPF the better!
  • Leave the Cooler at Home. There will be a cooler and ice on the boat waiting for you. Feel free to bring your favorite snacks and beverages. Dry storage is also available to safely store your camera and other belongings.
  • Have Fun. Of all the thrills an angler can experience, few, if any, compare to the excitement of shallow water fishing in the Florida Keys. Just show up, come aboard, and enjoy a memorable day on the water.
