Our Captains

Captain Scott Walker has over 30 years of fishing experience and is known throughout the Florida Keys for his professionalism and for his ability to catch big fish. Voted “Best Captain in the Middle Keys” in 2009, Captain Scott has won over a million dollars competing in the prestigious World Sailfish Tournament.

Captain Scott runs the 50’ Viking Tailwalker II, and specializes in live bait and kite fishing for sailfish in the fall, winter and early spring. Scott also excels at dolphin (mahi-mahi) and wahoo fishing in the summer months, as well as deep dropping for daytime swordfish.

Nothing makes Scott happier than showing customers a great time on the water, and he loves helping anglers of all ages and skill levels reel in Florida Keys billfish. Captain Scott’s “dinner and a show” is a favorite charter fishing trip among Hawks Cay guests. This four-hour trip will take you out to the lively reef for snapper and grouper, and then escorts you to the sailfishing grounds for tail-walking acrobatics.

Captain Mike Kasten is a Marathon, Florida native who grew up learning these waters. After fishing with Captains Scott and Josh for five years, Mike took over as captain of our most recent addition, the Tailwalker III, in July of 2009. His passion and skill for fishing, as well as friendly demeanor, are sure to win you over as you reel in trophy fish after trophy fish.
