Dedicated to the Physical and Emotional Rehabilitation of Wounded Military Personnel, Firefighters, Police Officers and Their FamiliesHawks Cay Resort was honored over the past 2 years during the Heroes Welcome to have the opportunity to partner with organizations committed to aiding in the physical and emotional rehabilitation of wounded heroes. During our first annual Heroes Welcome, the Saltwater Experience TV show, Project Healing Waters and Hawks Cay teamed up to bring two soldiers that had been wounded in Iraq to stay at the resort and promote their therapeutic recovery process through fly fishing trips with Captains Rich Tudor and Tom Rowland of the Saltwater Experience. On September 11th, local Florida Keys heroes joined us for the Heroes Tribute in which the local Coast Guard Honor Guard presented, and the young visiting soldiers shared their stories with the audience. It was a truly moving event and was shared through a very special episode of the Saltwater Experience.
Last year, it was again our true honor to partner with Saltwater Experience in hosting 4 soldiers and their spouses to join us for fishing, relaxing and recovery over the weekend of September 11th, 2010.
This year, we are happy to partner with Healing Our Wounded Heroes in hosting 4 soldiers and their families for a therapeutic getaway at Hawks Cay, where they will have the opportunity to enjoy fishing, relaxation, and quality time with each other.
The mission of Healing Our Wounded Heroes is to reach out to active and retired war wounded military personnel, injured firefighters, police officers and their families across our nation by providing support, resources, activities, and educational and fun family events that will assist in the physical and emotional healing of our country’s Heroes and their families.
